This clip from the amazing BBC series, The Fast Show, shows the group doing their weekly parody of a jazz club. Complete with comedy cigar smoking host, the band, surroundings and music are just perfect. The sudo-realism makes this show superbly funny and the following clip is no exception. The ensemble in this particular clip features the James Nance Quartet playing the haunting Buddy Freak number, Desolate Shore. Remember to rate and leave a comment if you like the clip.

Ukraines’s Got Talent, Best Bartender in the World

This video from Ukraines’s Got Talent shows possibly the greatest bartender in the world (Alexander Shtifanov from Ukraine) doing his thing. At first you think, oh a barman doing cocktail mixing tricks is pretty boring, seen Tom Cruise doing this 20 years ago. However, this dude has some serious skills and there is plenty of material here that I have just never seen anywhere else before. Mandinga – Zaleilah – Romania – Live From Semi-Final 1 Eurovision 2012

Our favourite song of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest is defintely the Romanian Entry. The song is Mandinga and it is performed by the wonderful singer Zaleilah. The video shows her performing the song live at the first semi final of Eurovision 2012. We actually they should have cut some of the beginning section of the tune to get to the chorus quicker but that is only a tiny criticism. There are quite a few other songs to compete with this one for the competition but we feel that it has a pretty strong chance. Sweden, Italy and Russia all have pretty strong songs so we will have to wait and see what happens in the final I suppose.

It that time again, the top young musicians have prepared are now doing battle on an epic scale to prove who is the mater of musical ability. The video below shows 14 year old Laura van der Heijden playing a Brahms cello sonata. We are sure you will agree that she is absolutely amazing and totally deserved to win her round and secure a place in the final which give her a big chance of being voted the BBC Young Musician 2012. There are some great games set for launch in the later part of 2012 and here at Videos to Play we just love anything new to do with technology or gaming. Whether your a first person shooter type of girl (or girl), or your allegiance lies in the Massive Multi-player online world, then there should be something here to wet your appetite. In the coming months we will see massive releases from the like of Tomb Raider (due 30th September 2012) as well as the eagerly anticipated Mass Effect 3 which is due much sooner (end of march we hear). There will also be releases from the Halo team, the fourth version of the game has been promised to us by the end of the year. We have already talked a lot about GTA 5 and we just cannot wait for that to come out!

This week at Videos to Play

It’s been a busy old week here at Videos to Play, we’ve been selecting clips like nobodies business and have posted some top stuff in the past seven days. This weeks adventure started with one of the greatest guitarists in the world, we then went on to show a crazy clash of heads from the English Premier League as well as the odd comedy thrown in for good measure. Next week we are planning some great stuff, much more classic sports clips and many extra gaming videos will be added and we really need you to let us know if you like them by adding your own user rating.

Pat Metheny Group – Third Wind is a tremendous performance from one of the best jazz/fusion guitarists that the world has ever known. OK, so he has had a mullet in the past and sometimes his compositions veer to the wrong side of ’cheesy’ but you have to admit that the guy can really play! This particular video shows Pat performing with his amazing (and massive) band live at some sort of gig. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have over the past week!

Grand Theft Auto V Trailer – We are all so excited about the release of this game. GTA San Andreas is one of our collective all time favourite video games and with all the talk of the new version’s release we are getting pretty fired up over here. The trailer give loads of hints about what sort of features are going to be included so if any of you lucky readers is interested then you should definitely check this out immediately.

The League of Gentlemen Pauline - This is one of the funniest clips of all time (in our opinion…). However, maybe if you have never seen the BBC’s League of Gentlemen before then you might not quite understand the back story here. Anyway, it’s an amazing video and shows of the almost Royal Shakespeare Company level of acting that was such a heavy feature of this show. Klaas Jan Huntelaar v Chris Smalling

This video was taken from the friendly game between England and Holland on Wednesday 29th February 2012. It shows one of best knock-outs we have ever seen in a football game. Klaas Jan Huntelaar goes in for the header against Chris Smalling, he does really well and scores a great goal. However, almost immediately after the ball leaves his head the two players smash together and both fall to the floor. What follows shows the usually composed K.J.H. with a mouth full of grass and a totally dazed look in his eyes, he really doesn’t know what day of the week it is! Smalling too is on the deck and completely out of it, I can’t remember the last time I saw two players crack together in such a forceful and dramatic fashion during a football match for a good while.

Unfortunately, the great England team (no bias here…) were unable to get back in to this match and ended with a rather disappointing win for the Dutch. What will become of the currently manager-less three lions squad? Who will be appointed as the successor to Fabio Capello? Only time will tell I suppose but with the European Championships and the Olympics coming up this England side really need to start figuring a few things out and stop underachieving so dramatically. Maybe it is time to appoint an English manager (like Harry Redknapp) who knows the players inside out and knows the way that football shows be played.

Pat Metheny Group, Third Wind

This video was recorded at a live concert in Japan in 1992. It shows the Pat Metheny Group with possibly it’s finest line-up playing possibly it’s best tune. It’s proper fusion-jazz (not all out fusion obviously) with all of it’s extrovert orchestrations and difficult arrangements. I wouldn’t say that it is to everyone’s tastes either, but for those who are enlightened it is a heavy jam indeed. The band features some truly ridiculous musicians including Lyle Mays on keyboards and Paul Wertico on drums. We hope that you enjoy this video as much as we have…
